"Cheap games" is one of the most searched things in gaming, and one of the least useful lists to actually find. Search it and you get a bargain bin: shovelware, asset flips, and a few genuine gems buried in the middle with no way to tell them apart. Sorting the gems from the junk is the entire point of this hub.

A game being cheap tells you nothing about whether it's good. Some of the best games ever made sell for under $15 most of the year — Stardew Valley, Hollow Knight, Celeste, Vampire Survivors — while plenty of $5 "deals" aren't worth the download. We rank by value-per-dollar: how much genuinely good game you get for the money, not how low the number is.

Organized by platform, because the good cheap games differ

What's cheap and great on one platform isn't automatically available (or cheap) on another. Each platform page collects that system's best budget picks: Switch, PC / Steam, PlayStation and Xbox. PC gets the deepest discounts and the biggest back catalog; Switch is strongest for portable indies and family co-op; PlayStation and Xbox both have huge sale catalogs plus subscription libraries worth factoring in.

What decides whether a cheap game is worth it

Three things: how many hours of genuine enjoyment you get, whether it holds up (a tight 6-hour game can be better value than a bloated 40-hour one), and whether it goes lower often. A $12 game you replay for years is better value than a $4 game you bounce off in an hour. Our value verdict on each pick weighs exactly that, and we note when a game regularly drops even cheaper so you know whether to buy now or wait for the next sale.

The trap: buying cheap junk to feel like you got a deal

The bargain bin is designed to make you buy volume. Five $3 games you never finish is $15 wasted; one carefully chosen $15 game you love is money well spent. We'd rather point you at a single great pick than pad a list with filler to look comprehensive. If a platform doesn't have a good cheap option in a genre, we say so instead of recommending a bad one.
